“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

— Psalm 19v1

Within a few days of the Vision Pro having launched I had seen all the immersive content and apps, and was hungry for more experiences. Panoramic mode was impressive with photos I’d taken on my iPhone, but by chance I opened a photo from the James Webb in panoramic mode and had quite a shock!

For the first time I could see details that a 2D image from a book or TV had never portrayed - the physical form of gas clouds for example, or stars in front or behind. The sheer scale and visual fidelity of the Vision Pro made viewing these images a powerfully emotional experience, and it has deeply changed my connection with the universe.

Over the last year I’ve been trying to locate the very best space images for viewing with a Vision Pro. Not all images look good, and there is no documentation from Apple on the exact ratio, dpi, bit depth, size, or format for the very highest quality panoramic images. So this curated section of images will be the best I can locate, and will be added to over time.

The words in the quote above were written over 3,000 years ago, when humans only looked up with their eyes - but even with the latest developments in space telescopes the words are no less true. So whether you believe in a creator or not, I hope this collection of images will inspire you and appreciate the universe in a new way.
